Dad Lets 3-Year-Old Choose Her Picture Day Outfit, Shares Photos On Social Media

One California dad decided to choose his battles carefully when it came to his toddler daughter. After picking 3 outfits for her and the little girl declining them all, he told his wife that he let the child choose what to wear for picture day. When the parents saw the final result, they couldn’t help but post the school photo online for all to see. They never expected the response they got, though.

Kailieann Steinbach from Rocklin, California is a very special girl. In fact, you could say it’s pretty cool. She is independent, knows what she likes and is not afraid to show it. She also doesn’t let anything stand in her way. The three-year-old proved exactly that on the school day when she decided on the perfect outfit to wear. Her parents have done nothing now, the school photo has a big impact.

Austin Steinbach wasn’t offended when Kaylian rejected the three outfits he chose to wear in the school day photos. “I always wanted her to be as independent as possible,” he explained. Kailieann decided to choose her outfit and it happened to be a Supergirl costume. Don’t worry, she still had the perfect outfit accessory.

“She went upstairs, looked at each of her choices, turned around and said ‘Pootergirl!'” Austin Steinbach recalled, according to the Huffington Post. “And well, I couldn’t argue with that answer. So, sitting proudly with my ” Pooterman,” as Kailieann calls him, the child smiled brightly.

With Superman as her sidekick and both dressed in their respective outfits, Caillian looked simply adorable. When her parents received the school photo, they loved how it showed Kaylian’s unique love of superheroes and proudly posted it online for their family and friends.

“Grandma! My school pictures are back today!” Austin wrote next to the picture, which would have drawn attention to far more than just the girl’s grandparents. As the photo gained more and more attention, it soon became clear that there was much more to little Kaylian than her unique outfit inspiration, Fox 40 reported.

Yes, little Kailieann sure loves superheroes. Actually, Austin wasn’t surprised when she chose the suit because she wears it all the time to school. “I love that she’s wearing this,” he said. So her clothes weren’t shaken at all. But something else definitely worked.

Her parents were surprised that the three-year-old’s fashion choice went viral as her photo spread across the country. Apparently, many others found him completely adorable, too. “I’m still in awe of it. I still can’t believe what’s happening,” admitted her mother Jamie Steinbach.

However, the picture got a lot more than laughs. “The response and participation from the deaf community has been incredible,” Austin said. “I still haven’t gotten over all the messages of support and kind words people have been sending me.” I could never have imagined how much her photograph could have touched so many.”

That’s right, Supergirl’s parents quickly found themselves overwhelmed with support from the deaf community. You see, little Rocklin is 75 percent deaf in both ears. This is why he tries to hear and pronounce the letter “S” correctly, saying “Pooterman” instead of “Superman”. However, Kailieann is an inspiration, proving, “Being deaf is not necessarily a disability,” Jami explained. “You can still go out and be yourself, be creative.”

Really, the outfit is just a reflection of the superhero that brave little Kaylian really is. Faced with what others would consider an unfair challenge, Kaylian continues to proudly display her confidence and individuality, proving that so-called disability can be all about perception. She certainly doesn’t let her “efforts” get her down. Maybe we can all learn something from this super girl.
