He was doing his job while walking to his daily mail in Wheat Ridge when he noticed a car parked on the side of the road. Russell also heard a strange sound coming from the car, like the engine revving, but he paid no attention to it.
He became worried, however, when the next voice he heard from the car was that of a small child who sounded worried.
Russell saw the child screaming from the car and immediately went to investigate. When he approached the car, he saw a young woman screaming in the back seat, but he couldn’t understand what she was saying, so he approached. “As I got closer, I heard, ‘Is my mom de*ad?'” Russell recalled.
Russell dropped off his mail and immediately got the little girl out of the car before checking on her mother. When he saw her sitting, he immediately called an ambulance.
While police were en route, the child’s mother, Ashley Figgers, woke up at that time.
Figgers later admitted to officers that she had taken the pill and was tired while driving, so she pulled over on the side of the road and passed out.
When her daughter 6 saw her mother fall, she couldn’t understand what happened and assumed she was de*ad. As a result, when she recognized Russell, the confused boy had to call for help.
Russell started his day delivering mail, but ended up rescuing a frightened six-year-old. Everyone who heard about the incident praised his quick reaction. Kylee Fisher, a police officer, applauded Russell. He stated
